Duties & Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician and Control Panel builder to join our team.

Our Technician and Control Panel Builder role is responsible for laying out and building custom electrical control panels and related industrial electrical/control equipment, including motor control centers, PLC panels, marshaling panels, heater power panels, and related electrical assemblies.

This position reports directly to our System Integration Group Production Manager.

Technical Capabilities for this role include:

  • Understand industrial panel layout drawings, point-to-point wiring diagrams, wiring schematics and bill of materials
  • Ability to read prints and interpret electrical symbols, understand construction notes, and identify bill of material components.
  • Identify material and components used in panel fabrication, including wire types, fuses, breakers, terminals, switches, pilot lights, etc.
  • Review, understand, and follow project specifications
  • Perform in-process and final assembly quality checks, including continuity testing, resistance testing, dimensional checks, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Maintain “as-builts” (redline mark-ups) for feedback to engineering/drafting
  • Maintain quality documentation, including test reports, calibration reports, installation manuals, and other material/instrument documentation
  • Ability to use basic hand tools (drills, wire strippers, crimpers, sheet metal knockouts, jigsaw, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)

Skills Required

Qualifications for a successful candidate in this role include:

  • High School degree or equivalent is required
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Technician or similar position in the manufacturing industrial control, or related industries
  • Experience with UL508A, NEC, and / or hazardous area rated electrical equipment a plus
  • Experience with mechanical and laser engraving systems a plus
  • Working knowledge of electrical and equipment control systems including wiring, conduit, pneumatic tubing
