For us, it was an easy decision back in 1999 to expand our engineering services business to include controls and packaged equipment fabrication. We founded Principal Technology to provide sound engineered designs across multiple technical disciplines to produce efficient Integrated Solutions.
Our System Integration and Fabrication (SI&F) group provides custom-engineered, design-build, and build-to-print control systems and packaged equipment solutions for a broad industrial portfolio, from simple PLC Control Panels for water supply, pump, and filtration packages to complex Safety Instrumented Systems, Burner Management, and integrated Fuel Train packages.
In addition to our custom-engineered capabilities, our pre-engineered systems function as building blocks to efficiently meet many of our customer’s complex control challenges without the expense of “starting from a clean sheet of paper.”

Compressor Station Engine Control System
PTI is proud to work with a variety of industry partners. This multi-year, multi-project relationship provided a unique opportunity to collaborate with our customer’s engineering department to design and build a semi-standard engine automation system. Our work merged our client’s technology and know-how with PTI’s engineering and control panel manufacturing capabilities to produce a branded control system to support their engineered products business unit.
PTI engineers and system integration group have the experience to tackle small stand-alone packaged control systems to large-scale plant-wide automation systems. This project included both the safety shutdown system and the process control system integrated into a single modular e-house that housed the unit’s motor control center. The system was designed and fabricated in Plano, Texas, and shipped to the end-user.
The pre-shipment Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) included a fully hardwired function test and design review with our client’s engineering, operations, and maintenance stakeholders. The extensive design review and off-site function test reduced the installation and commissioning time by over 50% and minimized the on-site congestion during the project’s construction phase.
We first built our controls lab to provide our employees and customer stakeholders with a comfortable work environment to aid our collaborative design process. In 2022 we are proud to announce that we have completed a significant renovation to expand our square footage and technology. Our lab now includes additional PLC platforms, remote IO, and networking capabilities integrated with our controls fabrication shop.

Remote Networking allows us to monitor and burn-in your production control panel from the comfort of our lab.
Multiple PLC platforms and Remote IO racks allow us to perform everything from simple soft-logic function tests on your production system to complete 100% hardwired IO Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
Bench Testing capabilities also allow us to provide live education and training labs in-person and online.
Principal Technology maintains UL certification in the following industrial control panel categories. This certification can be incredibly important to our customers. Electrical Inspectors and authorized inspectors often require control panels to carry the UL certification.
