Principal Technology's System Integration group produces control panels and automation control systems that support the operations of our diverse industrial clientele. Our project portfolio ranges from simple relay or small PLC-based annunciator panels to complex process control and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
We produce control systems from either build-to-print or design-build project scopes – programmed by us or shipped cold for programming and installation by others.
Regardless of the system design, our panel builders have access to PTI’s control system engineers to ensure your system is built and tested to work as designed.
Once our panel builders complete their work, our technical specialist step in to perform and document job-specific quality inspections and function testing for every panel and system we build.
We maintain the capability to perform extended burn-in, soft and/or hardwired function testing, and witnessed acceptance tests with our clients and other project stakeholders.
Principal Technology’s System Integration shop is UL certified for general purpose and hazardous (Classified) locations, including UL 508A, UL 698A, and UL 1203, using purged and pressurized, explosion-proof, or intrinsically safe circuit protection means.

Beyond Just One’s and Zero’s
PTI fabricated this control system for a Gulf Coast client that was short on plot space. The completed system included their plant’s process automation controller, a gas analyzer, a wall-mounted operator annunciator panel, and a metered nitrogen purge rack.
The integrated system was housed in a walk-in enclosure not much larger than a small closet. This approach eliminated two external control panels and a stand-alone structure for the purge panel, all housed in the same space that would have been occupied by the gas analyzer alone.
Our System Integration group fabricated and assembled this compressor engine control panel designed by our customer. The completed system included an Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC, a proprietary industrial PC, and a touch screen operator terminal.
PTI engineers supported our client in conducting a comprehensive 100% hardwired IO function test at our Plano, Texas office before shipping it to the field.
PTI is proud to work with a variety of industry partners. This multi-year, multi-project relationship provided a unique opportunity to collaborate with our customer’s engineering department to design and build a semi-standard engine automation system. Our work merged our client’s technology and know-how with PTI’s engineering and control panel manufacturing capabilities to produce a branded control system to support their engineered products business unit.
PTI accepted the challenge of building this custom control system server cabinet for use in an EXTREMELY dusty process area. While “off-the-shelf” filtered and cooled server racks exist, this project was challenged by an immovable space constraint and a level of dust that standard filtered cabinets could not handle without very frequent filter changes.
PTI and our client’s engineers realized that if the system was not “User Friendly” and required excessive Preventative Maintenance, human nature may take over and compromise the project’s long-term goal.
